The Westin at Washington DC Downtown is Seeking an Eager Rooms Candidate to train as Front Desk Agent, Rooms Controller, and Front Desk Supervisor!

Detailed description

A recently renovated hotel in the heart of downtown Washington, DC is seeking a dynamic and personable Rooms candidate to train across Front Desk Agent, Rooms Controller, and Front Desk Supervisor functions.

Outside of training, immerse yourself in everything the nation’s capital has to offer. Explore the National Mall and its iconic landmarks, including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and U.S. Capitol. Discover world-class Smithsonian museums such as the National Air and Space Museum and the National Museum of American History. Enjoy the charm of Georgetown and Dupont Circle, known for their shopping, dining, and scenic streets, and experience the city’s historic monuments beautifully illuminated at night. Nature enthusiasts will also appreciate visits to the National Zoo and the Tidal Basin, especially during cherry blossom season.

Placement Remarks

$26.25 Per Hour

All other uniform items will be provided. For Front Desk, Dark Dress shoes required. All other uniform items will be provided.

Meals are provided complimentary for employees. Should employees elect to bring their own food items, microwaves and refrigeration are available in employee cafeteria.

Students will accrue 9 days of Paid Time Off over the 12 month period. Time is accrued based on hours worked and is available for students to begin using after 90 days in position.

Airport pickup will not be provided.  

Dulles International Airport & Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Both airports are on DC Metrorail and students can reach the hotel via this public transportation system. 

Hotel is open to providing two weeks, open to extend on case by case basis based on housing search challenges.

Requirements

Eligibility criteria for our Career USA programs:

- You are enrolled in a post secondary ministerially recognized academic institution in the hospitality industry OR have a hospitality degree and at least 1 year of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside of the USA) OR have 5 years recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside the USA)

- You have shown consistent career growth over the last years

- You have shown serious commitment to your most recent employers

Housing:

Washington DC Metro area, and the surrounding areas like Alexandria and Arlington, is expensive. A 1-bedroom apartment can start around $1,800+ per month, unfurnished.

HRC places over 30 J1's in D.C. every year so there are plenty of other J1's to help you get settled in the area!

We recommend that you consider rooming with another J-1 or local share the cost of the living. The metro is very reliable, which allows the option to live outside the city where the cost of living will be a bit less expensive.
