Local info

Situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, Denver, known as “The Mile?High City,” is a vibrant blend of urban energy and outdoor adventure. With its sprawling skyline backed by snow?capped peaks, Denver offers easy access to both city life and mountain escapes, thanks to well-connected interstates and highways. It’s the perfect home base for exploring Colorado, from weekend ski trips to hiking in the foothills. Denver’s neighborhoods each have their own personality, too. The artsy RiNo district bursts with street murals and craft breweries, LoDo (Lower Downtown) offers historic charm and nightlife, and Cherry Creek is a haven for shopping and upscale dining. For live music lovers, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, just a short drive from the city, hosts some of the most iconic concerts in the country. From farm-to-table restaurants to craft coffee shops, microbreweries, and outdoor festivals, there’s never a dull moment. Denver is a city where mountain adventures meet cultural experiences, making it an unbeatable place for both work and play.

A typical one?bedroom in the heart of the city averages $1,700–$1,800 per month, while cheaper options farther from downtown, or shared apartments, can be $1,200–$1,400. Transportation:

Denver's public transportation is easy, inexpensive, and convenient. You can get pretty much anywhere in The Mile High City by rail or bus and often get there faster than by car. If you decide to purchase a Vehicle, it is recommended to bring $2000-$300 extra with you for the purchase and payment of car insurance.

You can learn more about Denver’s Public Transportation here.

Climate:

Denver has a semi?arid climate with four distinct seasons and relatively low precipitation compared to many U.S. cities. Much of the year is sunny and dry, with an annual precipitation of only about 8–16?inches and more than 250–300 days of sunshine. Summers are warm to hot and dry, thanks in part to the city’s elevation of about 5,280?feet above sea level, with July average highs near 88?°F (31?°C) and typical highs above 90?°F (32?°C) on many summer days. Winters are cold and dry, but snow usually melts quickly; the average high in January is around 46–47?°F (8?°C) and average lows dip into the teens (~16–20?°F / –9 to –7?°C), with many nights below freezing each winter. Snowfall occurs, but accumulation doesn’t usually stay on the ground long in the city proper, and extremely cold or prolonged cold snaps are possible but not the norm.
