Rate of pay: Host and Beverage Trainee $18.00, Server $5.75 plus tips (see below) and Supervisor $20.00
It is customary in the US to work in “gratuity” positions. In these positions, you will receive a base hourly salary plus gratuity (tips). While the amount of a gratuity is ultimately at the discretion of the guest, the customary tip is 15- 20% of the total bill before tax. Based on history, you may expect to earn around $17.00 per hour.
Uniform will be offered. Bring your own non-slip shoes and a suit until your uniform is ordered.
Lunch or dinner provided when you train per day.
You should fly into Savannah/Hilton Head Airport via Atlanta Hartsfield or other big cities.
The hotel will provide up to 10 day of accommodations upon your arrival for room and tax. This may be extended to 14 days depending on occupancy. All other expenses are your own responsibility.
Depending where you live you can get along well by foot, bike or moped.

Eligibility criteria for our Career USA programs:
- You are enrolled in a post secondary ministerially recognized academic institution in the hospitality industry OR have a hospitality degree and at least 1 year of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside of the USA) OR have 5 years recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside the USA
- You have shown consistent career growth over the last years
- You have shown serious commitment to your most recent employers

Keep in mind without any credit it the USA you will need to pay first and last month rent as a deposit. We recommend you bring at least $2000 startup capital with you. HRC recommends that you consider rooming with another J-1 or local to share the cost of the living. Transportation:
HRC also recommends that you purchase a vehicle, because Savannah has limited public transportation. The average cost for a reliable vehicle is around $3,000 USD. Vehicles in the state of Georgia are required to be insured, please be sure to bring additional funds for this expense. By having a vehicle, you can have the option to live outside the city where the cost of living will be a bit less expensive. If living in town, we suggest you get a bike!
