Benefits:

Uniforms will be provided. 

A complimentary meal per shift will also be provided. The property will provide housing for 30 days (or first month) upon arrival.

Candidates can fly into Reagan or Dulles Airport.

Requirements

Eligibility criteria for our Career USA programs:

•  You are enrolled in a post secondary ministerially recognized academic institution in the hospitality industry OR have a hospitality degree and at least 1 year of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside of the USA) OR have 5 years recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside the USA)

•  You have shown consistent career growth over the last years

•  You have shown serious commitment to your most recent employers

The D.C. area is home to a tremendous number of cultural activities to do, especially with regards to history, both nationally and worldwide! World famous for its historical monuments and cultural landmarks, there are very few cities in The United States that compare in terms of the number of iconic places to see! Just a handful of some of these places include The Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial, The White House, The Library of Congress, The Capitol Building, The Jefferson Memorial, The Smithsonian, and The National Gallery of Art.  

Transportation: 

Depending on the location of your housing, a car may not be necessary while living in D.C. The D.C. metro access across the D.C. area is quite convenient making travel around the city fairly easy. It is recommended that you get metro passes as soon as you can once in D.C.  

The metro is very reliable, which allows the option to live outside the city where the cost of living will be a bit less expensive. Visit WMATA and goDCgo to explore all of the sustainable transportation options!? 

Housing: The Washington DC Metro area, and the surrounding areas like Alexandria and Arlington, is expensive. A 1-bedroom apartment can start around $2,300+ per month, unfurnished. 

HRC places over 30 J1's in D.C. every year so there are plenty of other J1's to help you get settled in the area! 

We recommend that you consider rooming with another J-1 or local share the cost of the living. The metro is very reliable, which allows the option to live outside the city where the cost of living will be a bit less expensive. Please note, without established credit your first and last month’s rent may be required as a deposit. HRC recommends you arrive with at least $2,500 as startup capital and to help secure housing.

Climate: Being located just at the most southern point of what is considered the American Northeastern region, D.C. has warm summers with often cold winters. The summer average temperatures comes out to 80°F (26.6°C) and the winter average is a cool 38°F (3°C). Being located as north as it is, snow fall is also a concern, with the city getting an average 15.5 inches (39 cm) per year. Aside from snow, it also rains frequently in D.C., with an average annual rainfall rate of 40.78 inches (103.6 cm) per year.
