Career USA

Why get your start in the U.S.? Because, in many ways the U.S. sets the standard for the hospitality industry around the world. Major leading hotel groups have originated in the US, think about Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt. You’ll be exposed to fast-paced, diverse and demanding environments that will prepare you for anything and everything. Consider Clayton. His career began washing dishes at a small restaurant. When he approached us in 1999, he was a young apprentice chef. We got him a placement at the Intercontinental hotel in New Orleans and he was on his way. After a few promotions at InterContinental Hotels, Clayton then became an Executive Chef with Ritz Carlton. That’s what the right experience can do for you.
Our signature Career USA programs allow you to gain experience in different departments of your choice. Based on your career preferences, you may decide to work in rooms division, food & beverage or culinary arts.  Most Career USA placements offer a rotation through various departments. In rooms division for example, you may be exposed to front office, guest services, and housekeeping. Food & beverage placements offer experience in banquets, restaurants, bar and room service. The culinary placements offer the opportunity to work in various kitchen areas of top hotels or fine dining restaurants.

Opportunities WorldWide

Half the reason you got into the hospitality industry is because you want to see the world. We know the feeling. Many of our participants seek multiple placements, each one very different from the last. Our WorldWide placements offer a variety of job opportunities at exciting locations around the world. Again our aim is to offer you an opportunity at some of the finest hotels and resorts to help you get ahead. Consider Pascal. When he approached us, he was a housekeeping manager in Shanghai. We got him an opportunity at Hyatt Regency West Hollywood. Pascal then moved to Egypt where he became the Executive Assistant Manager at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cairo. That’s what an international experience can do for you.

 The essentials Worldwide

For our openings outside the United States, typically no visa fees and insurance apply. Candidates are usually only responsible for airfare. Competitive salaries are offered by all employers.

 Buddy Program

The Buddy Program is an informal network platform meant to better prepare first time HRC candidates by introducing current HRC J1 participants in the USA and/or HRC alumni in their home country prior to leaving to the USA*.   And if there is enough space you might consider adding this:

You can obtain general information from the HRC alumnus about the country, region or city where you will go and ideally even the hotel where you will have your career program. What better preparation for a life changing experience abroad than the information form someone who has been there, done that?

Secondly, you will get introduced to a HRC participant currently in his or her program in the city where you will go to. This HRC volunteer can assist you during your first few weeks to get to know the city, to meet some people, places to go to, possibly even with finding a car, etc.
